Less than one month after signing on to appear in Rob Marshall's latest project, Nine, Oscar-winner Javier Bardem has pulled out of the lead role. Empire magazine claims that Bardem cited exhaustion from a year of filming and publicity commitments as a reason to leave. A long list of A-listers have signed onto Rob Marshall's latest project, Nine. It's an adaptation of the Federico Fellini's award winning Broadway musical, Eight and a Half. Lovebirds Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz have already signed on, as well as Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Sopia Loren, and Judi Dench. Bardem plays the main character, a film director juggling the demands of the several women in his life. Filming begins in September.

Javier Bardem is on a roll lately. He accepted the Montecito Award for his role in "No Country For Old Men" at the Santa Barbara Film Festival last night.   Woody Harrelson was also present to support his co-star at the festival.  This guy is on a roll, and has a great shot at an Oscar next month.
