"American Gangster" doesn’t hit theatres until November 2nd but this movie is creating buzz with its Oscar winning cast and hopes to actually take home an Oscar. Denzel Washington plays Lucas who was a heroin dealer and organized crime boss in Harlem. He is best known to organize the smuggle of heroin from Vietnam to the US by using the coffins of dead American servicemen and claims to have grossed $1 million a day.
Hollyscoop caught up with Denzel Washington about constantly playing a bad guy in flicks. “I don't categories rules on acting. People can call it what they want to call it, but it's not what I call it.”
Russell Crowe also stars in the movie and revealed to us why he took on this project. “For many reason really. A lot of the information in this movie is going to be shocking. One of the key things is that Frank, my character, is a man who grew up with nothing. He found a way to get to the top and improve his life. He had a different way of doing it by selling heroin, but if you examine the way he put his business and life together you'll understand, given a different opportunity and not be educated by other Harlem gangsters, he would probably be someone great. He operated his business with a strong morel core, however, he sold a lot of heroin and killed a lot of people. He ultimately had to go down by getting arrested. “
