Clint vs. Spike: Round 2

Clint Eastwood
Earlier this week we reported how Spike Lee blasted Clint Eastwood for not having more African Americans in his films such as Flags of our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima.

Lee said, "There were many African-Americans who survived that war and who were upset at Clint for not having one (in the films). That was his version: the negro soldier did not exist. I have a different version."

Now Clint is blasting Lee for his comments questioning if Lee knows his American history. "Does he know anything about American history?" Eastwood told Focus when asked about Lee's criticism. "The U.S. military was segregated til the Korean War, and the blacks in World War Two were totally segregated. The only black battalion on Iwo Jima was a small munitions supply unit that came to the beach.

"The story was about the men who raised the flag and we can't make them black if they were not there. So tell him: Why don't you go back and study your history and stop mouthing off!"

Well, there's Clint's response. It's back to you Spike!

Spike Lee is a fool. Flags of Our Fathers was focused on the flag raising and the soldiers involved in that act. Clint Eastwwod has a long history of casting black actors in his film, and for Spike Lee the litle rodent to make his comments is utterly foolish. Spike Lee is the fool that said that no white an sould direct a movie about Malcom X. Which was another way of him saying that no one but he Spike Lee should direct the movie. Based upon his warped and twisted logic, Norman Jewison (not black) who directed the great race themed film,"In the Heat of the Night"...should not have directef that film. Based upon his folish thought patterns, Eastwwod should not direct the upcoming film "The Human facotor" where Morgan Freeman plays Nelson Mandela. Eastwwod cast Morgan Freeman as in "Unforgiven" becuase Morgan was right for the role. The character of Ned Logan was NOT written in David Webb Peoples original script as black. However, CLint knows that blacks played a rold in the American west and so Mrogan was cast. For Lee the rodent to suggst any racial insensitivity on the part of Clint Eastwwod is so far off base it is beyond the pale of comprehension. Eastwwod was casting blacks in prominent roles before Spike Lee even learned to become the marginal film-maker that he is: Vonetta McGee in "The Eiger Sanction" the co-disk jockey in "Play Misty for Me" was black. etc. It is a long histoy on Eastwwod's part to cast black actors in many of his films. Spike Lee has opened his big mouth on something this time he can't substantiate with facts. Final point: I am just as black as Spike the rodent Lee and his gene pool is no more connected to the dark continent than mine. Spike Lee...just shut your mouth...as Clint already told you to do.
